After graduating from Newcastle Polytechnic in 1977, Richard Boothroyd spent time working for a leading London based practice before being posted back to Leeds in 1978 to act as their site based representative on the Leeds Crown Court development. Richard was responsible for providing all quantity surveying and associated management functions for the delivery of what was a substantial and iconic project.
This experience developed Richard’s appetite for both challenging projects and the exciting commercial opportunities the provinces held for him. Rather than return to London in a senior position, Richard chose to stay in Leeds to develop his career and, in 1985, he achieved a long held ambition by setting up Richard Boothroyd & Associates.
Since its inception, Richard has grown the practice into the successful business it is today, with a well-established team of Directors, Associates, Chartered Surveyors and Technical Support staff who all contribute to developing the original and overriding concept of providing complete Client satisfaction.
Richard has now been Chairman of the practice for over ten years and continues to work closely with the RBA team, using his extensive experience to provide key strategic, commercial and technical support.
Richard is very proud of his achievement and how the business has developed. This, in turn, has created opportunities in training and development of the team.
Richard is also particularly proud of the time tested relationships which his team have forged with many Clients, resulting in repeat business and recommendations which he firmly believes underpin the continued success of the RBA.
